W.S.Z.K. Malac Banda - History

W.S.Z.K. Malac Banda is already a very old band. On november 1st 1964, Ference Tury started a gipsy orchestra in Wageningen. The orchestra consisted of two violins, two guitars, a piano and a flute. Later on a contrabass, an accordeon and a cymbalom were added. Dressed in red waistcoats, white shirts with wide sleeves, black trousers and red socks Malac Banda soon performed on many places. At first, this was only happening in Wageningen, but quickly they played their music in the rest of the Netherlands.
All these musical activities resulted in Malac Banda's first LP, in 1968. Also a manager, a secretary and a chairman were introduced. In 1969 Malac Banda celebrated their first lustrum, which was framed by lots of music and lamb meat. Also in 1969,  for the first time they went on holiday to Hungary, a tradition which is still existing nowadays. Meanwhile Malac Banda has celebrated their 9th lustrum, two years ago. In 2011, their new cd will be published. It will be the 8th cd of Malac Banda. After all, things have changed undoubtedly, but we will always go on with playing traditional Hungarian and Romanian gipsy music.
